Happy Birthday, Mom. I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year without you. We’ve rarely spent our birthdays apart. The last time we did was during Covid. So, it’s been a tough day, but we tried to celebrate/honor you as best we could.

Today, we planned a trip to Indraloka Animal Sanctuary. Dad said you guys have never been there, but we know you would have liked it. They rescue farm animals and also have a veterinary clinic onsite/nearby. We scheduled a VIP tour, so they took us around the farm and showed us all the animals that we were allowed to see. They had cows, goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep and mules. Most of them had names and were treated more like pets. When we first got there, a group of newer alpacas were “barking” to alert them that the pigs were out where they shouldn’t be. After our guide took care of that, we went to visit the cows. Desi’s favorite cow was the black and white one, he said he was the most popular. We then met a turkey named Lyndon who liked to be pet and followed us around during the tour. We then saw some mules, but they weren’t super friendly so we stayed back from them. The goats and pigs were very friendly and came right up to us. We held a super friendly chicken named Estelle. She loved to be held and pet. She even looked like she was going to fall asleep while Michelle was holding her. We fed some apples to a couple pigs, but by that time the boys were done and ready to go home. It was a pretty warm out and very humid, so the boys were worn out.

After a trip home to cleanup and rest, we went out to one of your favorite restaurants – Amber. Michelle got the palak paneer in your honor, I got chana masala and Dad got….well, you know what Dad got. The boys weren’t too impressed, but Desi liked the garlic naan (after removing the garlic) and Quinny ate some rice and tried a little of my dish. He liked it, but it was too spicy, so he would say “hot hot hot!” and need to take a drink immediately. I was thinking while we were there how you would have been amused by the boys. They were certainly trying my patience, but also very amusing. I wish their Grammy was there to see them.

I love you, Mom. Happy Birthday.
